Updates v1.15
25 Mar 2026 - Jonas Salling
Updates v1.15 is about two things I’ve been thinking about a lot: making it easier to share what you’re listening to, and making it easier to stay on top of it.
Better sharing
I’d be the first to admit that sharing from Updates hasn’t been its strongest suit. This release aims to change that.
You can now include a timestamp when sharing an episode. Your link opens right at the part you want someone to hear.
Additionally, links are now a little tidier than before:
An improvement, for sure! But more importantly, share links now resolve to proper previews in Messages and on social media. A recipient will see something like this:
The person receiving the share link does not need to have Updates. Those who use other players will see a simple web player, with links to open in popular podcast apps.
Bulk mark as played
Updates is designed so you never feel behind. There’s no inbox, no unread counter pressuring you. But some of you have asked for bulk mark-as-played, and that’s a fair request. On the podcast details screen, you can now mark all episodes as played from the context menu. Or long-press a specific episode to mark everything older than it as played.
Serial podcasts: a little extra context
Past versions of Updates would tell you whether newer episodes existed for a serial show, but that included episodes you’d already played. Now the main screen shows how many unplayed newer episodes are available. At a glance, you can tell how many new episodes are waiting for you.
The app picks up on the podcast’s serial flag automatically. Premium subscribers can also designate any podcast as serial if the feed doesn’t declare it. Premium is available as a subscription or a one-time purchase.
Visual polish
- Widget backgrounds now match your app icon color. If you’ve picked one of the alternate app icons, your widget follows suit (in light mode).
- Slight facelift in the search tab, with cleaner margins and colorized genre icons.
Improvements & fixes
- Fixed an issue where podcasts with an invalid feed could go missing after restoring from iCloud. Now you’ll see a note that the feed is missing (with options to keep trying or give up).
- Fixed an issue where browse and search results would load from cache forever. If the top lists seemed a little stale, this is why!
Updates supports iOS 17.4 and later.
